YOUTH PROGRAMS

The Salvation Army of the Virginia Peninsula offers religious and character-building programs for at-risk youth.  At our Virginia Peninsula Corps center at 1033 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, children are given a safe environment in which to explore and develop their potential through music, sports, arts and crafts, and spiritual development.  Programs and activities include:

CLUB 316

Club 316 is a character-building youth program for children 4 to 17 years of age.  Its goal is to help children develop life skills, confidence and self-reliance through participation in indoor and outdoor activities and sports.   In Club 316, children earn badges for their accomplishments in cooking, art, sports, photography, camping and many other endeavors.  Activities are interspersed with field trips, fundraisers, and educational and worship programs.  Weekly meetings are held at the Salvation Army of the Virginia Peninsula Corps center in Hampton.

YOUTH SPORTS (Ages 10-17)

Our in-house youth sports include basketball for boys and fast-pitch softball for girls. The softball program is offered in partnership with The Bay River Rumble organization /www.vayriverrumble.com.

YOUTH MUSIC & ART PROGRAMS (Ages 4-17)

Offered throughout the year, our School of Performing Arts, brass band, music theory, dance and choir programs help children develop creativity, confidence, and an appreciation for the arts.

EVERY VOICE SUMMER DAY CAMP / SPRING DAY CAMP

Every Voice Day Camps offer children a chance to participate in exciting educational and recreational activities during spring and summer school breaks.  For one week during the spring or ten weeks during the summer, campers participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities while making new friends and learning new skills.

CAMP HAPPYLAND

Located in Richardsville, Virginia, on 215 acres of rolling hills, Camp Happyland is a summer camp for more than 1,000 kids from communities that the Salvation Army serves in the Washington, D.C. metro area and Virginia. The program is accredited by the American Camping Association and incorporates music activities, performing arts, recreational and outdoor experiences, and spiritual learning activities into a one-week program for school-age children 6 to 17 years of age.   For camp information, go to http://virginiasalvationarmy.org/summer-camp/.
