In August of each year The Salvation Army provides the children of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County with school supplies for the next school year in partnership with the Tools For School initiative. Each year between 450 and 550 children are assisted with school supplies.

Families who are needing school supplies should watch for information in mid July at that year’s distribution date and what documentation needs to be presented.

Each August, during Virginia’s tax free weekend, The Salvation Army partners with the United Way to collect school supplies outside Harrisonburg/Rockingham Walmarts at Burgess Road, Dayton and Timerberville.

Supplies may be dropped off at The Salvation Army at 185 Ashby Avenue Harrisonburg.
