JOB TITLE: DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
LOCATION: THE SALVATION ARMY HAMPTON ROADS AREA COMMAND

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Hampton Roads  Area Commander, the Executive Director, and the indirect supervision of the Divisional Development Director the Area Command Director of Development plans, develops, administers, leads, and directs the Development Department for the Hampton Roads Area Command operations which includes: Donor Services, Marketing & Public Relations, Major Gifts (individuals, corporations and foundations), Volunteers, Special  Events and Fundraising; directs the selection, training, and supervision of all staff responsible for performing the daily operational duties of the Development Department; plans, develops, implements, and evaluates a variety of resource development strategies; ensures the highest level of quality in ongoing donor solicitation and recognition programs; monitors to ensure that the financial resources for facilities and programs are available to meet the growing need of the consumers that The Salvation Army serves.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business or a related field,
And
Ten years’ experience in a comprehensive development program with progressively responsible experience and demonstrated success in major gifts and fundraising
Or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Driver’s License and NSFRE Certification

JOB TITLE: VOLUNTEER/DONATION DRIVE COORDINATOR
LOCATION: THE SALVATION ARMY HAMPTON ROADS AREA COMMAND

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Development, the Volunteer/Resource Coordinator supports community engagement through developing and managing significant volunteer, donation drive and networking programs and assists with planning, coordination and execution of special event functions. Researches and secures location, facilities, transportation as required, and coordinates and supervises volunteers to ensure events run smoothly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, marketing, public relations, or a related field
And
A minimum of two years progressively responsible experience demonstrating a record of accomplishment in development, with an emphasis on building and enhancing an integrated program and considerable interface with top-level volunteers
Or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

JOB TITLE: SENIOR IT SYSTEMS SPECIALIST
LOCATION: THE SALVATION ARMY HAMPTON ROADS AREA COMMAND

POSITION SUMMARY:
Serves as a technical resource to management by working to ensure that business processes and systems (computers, printers, copiers, telephones, cameras, Cisco VoIP, and video conferencing etc) are supported by the appropriate information technology systems and that these systems and processes are fully integrated and aligned in support of daily operations and department needs. Works to ensure that these systems are configured properly in accordance with territorial standards and works within the Southern Territory network environments. Provides advanced level of technical support and problem-solving assistance to all computer users on-site and in the field via telephone or on-site visits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Two years of technical college in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or required,
And
Four years of varied work responsibilities in an Information Technology department

Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
One or more relevant certifications are required upon hire.  Two certifications preferred.

JOB TITLE: CUSTODIAN
LOCATION: THE SALVATION ARMY HAMPTON ROADS AREA COMMAND

POSITION SUMMARY:
Cleans and maintains the buildings and grounds to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the same on a daily basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
No formal education required;
Six month’s experience performing general housekeeping duties
Or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

JOB TITLE: DISHWASHER
LOCATION: THE SALVATION ARMY HAMPTON ROADS AREA COMMAND RAY & JOAN KROC CORPS COMMUNITY CENTER

POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists in the maintenance of a clean and prepared work environment for kitchen staff; cleans kitchen equipment and washes dishes; sweeps, mops, and waxes floors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
One year experience working in a kitchen preferred. Knowledge of cleaning practices, methods, and techniques. Ability to assist in the preparation and presentation of meals. Ability to wash dishes and kitchen appliances. Ability to clean kitchen and dining area.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

JOB TITLE: SOCIAL SERVICE WORKER
LOCATION: THE SALVATION ARMY HAMPTON ROADS AREA COMMAND

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides social service assistance to eligible clients in the following areas: food, lodging, clothing, and financial assistance; interviews clients to determine need and eligibility to receive services; prepares accurate and complete client records; refers clients to community agencies and maintains effective working relationships with the same; ensures compliance with program policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Two years of college coursework from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or a related field
And
Two years’ experience working in a social or public service environment with experience assisting the public
Or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

JOB TITLE: GYM ATTENDANT
LOCATION: THE SALVATION ARMY HAMPTON ROADS AREA COMMAND
RAY & JOAN KROC CORPS COMMUNITY CENTER

POSITION SUMMARY:
Attends to the needs of members in the gym, multi-sport court, outdoor fields, and playground; ensures the safe use of the facilities by assisting patrons with the equipment and making appropriate recommendations regarding fitness routines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be at least 18 years of age; High School diploma or G.E.D.
And
Two years’ experience leading a sports program preferably in an exercise facility,
Or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Must have or able to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification within first 30 days of employment.
JOB TITLE: LIFEGUARD
LOCATION: THE SALVATION ARMY HAMPTON ROADS AREA COMMAND
RAY & JOAN KROC CORPS COMMUNITY CENTER

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lifeguard ensures that the aquatic operations are in compliance with established departmental policies and procedures. Aquatic Lifeguard is an hourly position, which may be designed full-time, part-time, or as needed. Under the direction and supervision of the Lead Life Guard, the Lifeguard observes swimmers, protects life, prevents accidents, enforces regulations, and does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Current certificates in American Red Cross First Aid or First Aid For Public Safety Personnel (Title22), CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPR Pro), and Lifeguard Training. Equivalent training certificates may be accepted.

JOB TITLE: Human Resources Intern
LOCATION: The Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command

POSITION SUMMARY:Examples of duties that the Intern will experience and learn:
Helping maintain I-9 documentation files.
Preparing new hire packets.
Filing employee personnel papers and documentation as directed.
Assisting in setting up and maintaining employee personnel and benefit files.
Creating spreadsheets with human resource information.
Assisting in the performing of searches using online resources, job boards, social networks, database and any other recruiting means and tools.
Performing other human resource duties as assigned.
