Thanks to generous community support, The Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command is always available to serve those in need. The Army believes in treating each person who comes to us as an individual, not a statistic.
Through generous support at Salvation Army special events, The Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command can continue to be a beacon of hope for our neighbors in need and live the promise of doing the most good.
The Salvation Army Hope Gala is an opportunity for The Salvation Army to express their gratitude and recognize our loyal donors, volunteers, corporations, and foundations for their support over the past year.
The gala features a keynote speech by a local business man or woman noting the importance of community philanthropy and the difference one’s generosity makes whee they give to The Salvation Army.
Attendance at the dinner is an opportunity to learn of The Salvation Army’s programs and services and how much your support is appreciated.

Red Shield Golf Classic
The Red Shield Golf Classic benefits a specific initiative within The Salvation Army. In 2018 the beneficiary was The Salvation H.O.P.E Village, a residential housing program that offers a full spectrum of supportive services to low and moderate-income single women and women with children in need of a stable housing environment.
Since 2009, H.O.P.E Village has served 167 women and 84 children. In the last year, we have assisted 20 women with continuing their education through trade school and college courses and currently hold a 100% employment rate for the women in the program. With the help of the proceeds from the Golf Classic, we can sustain the success rates that we have been able achieve for almost a decade.
The Red Shield Golf Classic is a Four Person Pro Am Florida Best Ball (5 flights, post flighted). The tournament is limited to the first 25 teams to register with payment. A pre-tournament deli buffet luncheon is provided with a post-tournament celebration to be determined. Also offered are on-course soft drinks and snacks and tee gift.
The Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Distribution program provides more than 7,500 south Hampton Roads families with toys, clothing and food for their households, in all, more than 25,000 individuals are assisted through the week-long distribution.
More than 2,000 volunteers bring energy and enthusiasm to the operation that, at times, serves 75 families every 15 minutes.
