Well, we are finally here! After years of planning, much anticipation, and a great deal of prayer, construction is well under way for The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in South Hampton Roads and our opening weekend has been set for April 25-27, 2014!
We are dedicating the construction of this center in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as we begin the journey toward completion! This will be a place where people from all walks of life and backgrounds may come together on level ground, a place to bring family and friends, and a place where the mind, body, and spirit will be built up.
Just as the concrete foundation is laid, we will be laying a foundation of faith and confidence in our Lord. Just as the walls are constructed, we will be building relationships and forging new collaborations and partnerships within our community. And just as the roof is set in place, we will be reminded of the protection that is found in unity, trust, and community.
We wish to thank Salvation Army leadership, advisory organization members, donors, employees, volunteers and friends who are here to celebrate this beginning. It has been a lot of hard work, and you are appreciated more than we can express in words! You are a blessing!
We also give thanks for the Norfolk, Broad Creek, and surrounding Hampton Roads communities for faithfully supporting The Salvation Army and helping see this day come to fruition.
The Kroc Center will be a beacon of light, a symbol of hope, and a place where we all can learn, play, and grow.
May God bless you,
Captains Brett & Mary Meredith
