From its inception, The Salvation Army has relied heavily on volunteers. Often referred to as “the army behind The Army,” volunteers are valuable assets that help change lives, uplift families and support communities throughout our nation.
Do you ever wonder how you can make a lasting difference in your community?
The Salvation Army’s work at the Hampton Roads Area Command is greatly enhanced by volunteers. From ringing the bell at Salvation Army kettles during Christmas time to sorting and distributing school supplies during our Write Stuff Campaign, Salvation Army volunteers allow us to function as an agency.
Citizens of every community, from every walk of life, greatly extend the scope of The Salvation Army’s service. In short, volunteers’ assistance enables The Salvation Army to meet far more needs than it could without their help.
A variety of volunteer opportunities are available. Some areas of need include administration, housekeeping, food service, disaster services, and building & grounds maintenance.
