“The ROC” – Reach Out Center After School program for kids 1st grade through 8th grade Monday through Friday 3 PM to 6 PM There is an application form for parents to fill out and a monthly family fee of $5. The Martinsville school system will drop off children from Albert Harris Elementary by bus in the afternoons, call the school to arrange this for your children. Also during Spring Break there will be a Day Camp, and also a Day Camp during the summer with a small additional fee.

Feeding Program – Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Noon, a Hot Lunch meal is served free of charge to those who find themselves in Crisis. No information required! Just come and fellowship around the table and enjoy.   Community Care Ministry – Christian Volunteers go out into the community to visit and fellowship with those who are lonely and living in Nursing Homes, Private Homes and hospitals. Groups go out various time during the month to give out gifts and just share a little love and compassion.

Emergency Assistance – Case Managers see clients who are in crisis and need emergency help with Utilities, Rent or Mortgage, Prescription Assistance, Medical supplies, Transportation, Job search, Money management, and other needs (Clothes, Furniture, Home items) based on income, expenses, family size and individual crisis. Thrift Store – Donated items for sale that help generate income for ongoing programs, also items stored to be given to clients in need. For Truck Pick Up 647-3450   The Salvation Army officer, Lt. Lisa Knotts is available for prayer and can be reached at 638-7259, also as ordained ministers she can perform weddings and funerals.

Camp Happyland – Each year The Salvation Army here in Martinsville / Henry County sends an average of 30 young people to a week long stay at Camp Happyland located in Culpepper County. Here the kids are taught many life values, and given an opportunity to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. While that is the ultimate goal, it gets them away from the computer, TV, Video Games and helps them rediscover what it means to just be a kid, with Swimming, Craft Classes, Hikes, Bicycles, Games, Team Tournaments, Night Programs and to just have fun as a Kid.

VA Programs – The VA Hospital in Salem provides a counselor for those veterens in the 7 County region of southside Virginia. Hosted by The Salvation Army in Martinsville, Veterens are able to access services without having to travel to Salem. Counseling, Group Therapy, Interpersonal Mediation and other services are offered through this office. Call for an appointment with the VA Case Manager.
