    Providing Hope

“I prayed for God to lead me.”

“I didn’t know where we were going to sleep or how we were going to eat.” Those prayers led Shante, pregnant with her second child, and her son to The Salvation Army shelter, where they were welcomed with open arms. “I saw the hand of God extended through The Salvation Army. It was a pivotal point in my life that made me go in a different direction. They helped me to know all was not ended.”

Today, Shante and her family are in a home of their own and on a pathway of self-sufficiency. “They’re still holding my hand a bit, giving me that motivation to make a difference for me and my family.  Through the Pathway of Hope program, they’re giving me opportunities to better myself and not go through the pattern again.”

The Salvation Army Pathway of Hope program is helping families break the cycle of crisis. “I have hope, I’m passionate and motivated to do the same things for others that The Salvation Army is doing for me. I want to help the person who feels like giving up know that they don’t have to give up, there is hope.”
